WE ARE FINALLY HERE FOLKS!

The “Grunge + Strings” show presented by Jeremy Would Let Me Drown has been in the works all year long, and we are finally closing in on 1 of 3 events that will translate the work that we’ve done, and celebrate the amazing musical contributions of Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, and Soundgarden, the pioneers of the alternative scene that came out of Seattle. Specifically though.. for Pearl Jam and Alice In Chains, they each performed a very memorable TV event, baked into grunge fan’s minds worldwide, called “MTV Unplugged”.

Many bands of that era filmed an episode of this iconic TV Series but the Alice In Chains episode was remembered for it’s emotional impact, being filmed after singer Layne Staley had rejoined the band after a 2 ½ year hiatus as he was battling drug addiction, and it was a mesmerizing emotional performance. The members of Metallica were in the audience at this show, and half-way through the event, Alice In Chains’ members commented how happy they were to have them there, and played a riff from the famous “Enter Sandman” to say hi back to Metallica sitting in the crowd.

Pearl Jam’s MTV Unplugged Episode was explosive and frantic as lead singer Eddie Vedder would write the word “PRO CHOICE” down his bare arm during the performance of their song “Porch”, and even though it was unplugged the energy and engagement with the crowd was unlike any other band to grace that stage.

Nirvana, R.E.M., KISS, 10,000 Maniacs, Stone Temple Pilots.. so many amazing bands filmed episodes of MTV Unplugged, each with their own style and finesse, sharing their art, breaking down their iconic songs, and creating whole new releases where the unplugged songs became almost as popular as the normal releases from the bands. It was an incredible part of our timeline, and the memories are forever.

Jeremy Would Let Me Drown presents it’s own version of the “MTV Unplugged” show.. with acoustics, electric songs broken down, slower and more dramatic, and for the first official time.. WITH STRINGS! We have 3 of Atlanta’s top string players that we will be introducing that evening that will be playing violin, viola, and cello. We have collaborated with them in rehearsals since the spring, and they’ve written into the music, wonderful passages of stringed voices that will interplay with the melodies and harmonies of the songs. We can’t wait to share what we have with you!
